Stanford
Stanford
Michigan State-- BS (I'm sure many agree)
Minnesota-- MS
And, for the grammar-lesson portion of this post, note the difference:
Everyday living can be stressful.
I don't want to be stressed every day.
Duke BA
Georgetown JD
Did well academically at both places. Law school was easier and not nearly as challenging. Good start at accumulating human capital - but of course what matters is what one does with it.
I have an intellectual property law practice. I like it.
Why the hate for GTown and Cornell? Georgetown's SFS is among the top few IR programs in the country year in and year out at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Cornell meanwhile has the best engineering, architecture, veterinary medicine, and natural science programs in the Ivy Leauge (as well as the best agriculture and hotel management programs as you already noted). Sure neither school is HYP, Stanford, MIT or Caltech, but you have to be a pretty big snob to look down your nose at two of the best schools in the country.
I thought you were a fellow Sloanie. Let's leave the douchebaggery to the HBS kids shall we?

i ran at Kenyon in the late 70's. Our top guy was robi standard- good runner and crazy entertaining- never knew what happened to him. We had pretty poor coaching- an asst fotoball coach named mulligan who said he didnt give a **** about Lydiard- 20 quarters on tuesday, 8 on thursday, race on saturday, whatever we wanted otherwise. I credit him with my becoming a track coach afterwards. A guy named Knowlton was on our team who blossomed into a pretty decent runner afterwards. Curious about what happened to the rest...
a woman transferred to my undergrad, Williams, after just a semester at Harvard. It apparently had nothing to do with grades. She was on the ski team and wanted to be near the mountains. But did she then transfer again to a worse place? I do not know.
Priceton undergrad
University of Chicago grad
Sont vous tout les filles?
B.A. Grinnell (predating the Purple Roo; ran 4 yr cc; 3 yr track)
M.S. Colorado State University (xc skied 1 season)
Ph.D. University of North Dakota (my running went downhill there)
Additional course work at CU Boulder and Cornell University

I don't hate Georgetown or Cornell. Regarding Cornell, I was simply responding to the poster who seemed to think that we should be "jealous" of his alleged transfer from Harvard to Yale to Cornell during his first three years as an undergraduate. My comments did reflect the recognition of a certain hierarchy within the Ivy League schools, but I personally don't have strong views about the undergraduate programs at any of those schools. I hope that we can all agree that Cornell is a fine school with bright students while still being amused by the poster's suggestion that we should be jealous of the particular path through the Ivy League that he has claimed (falsely, I would guess).
Regarding Georgetown, I said nothing at all negative about the place, and don't have especially strong opinions about it (apart from its unfortunate role in the educations of Antonin Scalia and Pat Buchanan). I just found it funny that, instead of simply noting that he studied international relations at Georgetown, a poster felt the need to mention (incorrectly, as it turned out) that his school was #1 and (picking another university out of the air) Harvard was #4 in some poll. I was merely commenting on the level of social anxiety inherent in such citations to various polls about schools.
I'm actually not a Sloanie, although I do have a couple of degrees from M.I.T. in other fields.
Thanks for responding. I would be very surprised that half of the football players at Georgia Tech major in engineering! The reasons for my emotions I will not reveal. I don't want to come across as a racist and/or bigot.
I did some investigation on this matter.
The official Georgia Tech football roster
http://ramblinwreck.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/geot-m-footbl-mtt.html
shows 39 Juniors and Seniors. Here is a summary of their listed majors as I found:
Management (22 players)
Engineering (8 players)
Not listed (6 players)
Other Major (3 players)
Therefore, (8/39)*100% = 20.5% of the football players at Georgia Tech major in engineering. Management is the major of choice for Georgia Tech football players.
University of Wisconsin
notre dame
U.S. Naval Academy.
Of course some universities/colleges are 'better' than others, although this judgment is not as useful in an overall sense as it is for specific disciplines. However, in the course of my career I have seen graduates of obscure and unremarkable undergrad schools far outperform Ivy League grads. Nothing wrong with going to the best school one's ability and budget will allow, but it don't think it will guarantee anything in the working world.

Baylor University.
George Mason Unversity.
Back in the John Cook days.
Went back to community college after that for Accounting classes which led to a CPA.
Did you know that they teach the same accounting principles in community college as they due at Harvard?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
