Tsegay Kebede 1 ° 44'24 " 35km
The Adidas guy is coming on very strong but it may be too late for the victory unless Kebede(is he in first?) trips.
tsegaye has a gr8t story. collected wood 4 30 cents a day...rags to ritches
Tsegay Kebede 1 ° 5901 " 40km!!!
about 14;36 last 5km!
last 2,195km @ 4:35 pace!!!
kicked it into high gear after his last drink. amazing effort at the end 2:05.17 pb... on this coarse .. which is historically not that fast. great 3 minute pb by tekeste kebede..after many years he is peaking. number of eth's @sub 2:09 and 8 increSING
Kebede 2 ° 0518 "
Tekesute 2 ° 0752 "
Baranofusuki 2 ° 0819 "
Fukuoka is a fast course. 1 180 degree turn, no major rises, some wind 30-40km on the out back. Generally pretty good.
Kebede's last 400m was ~65-66. He wanted the payday...and with a negative split 1:03-102.
He has a finish like Abera, Khannouchi, and can compete in hot weather. He is the fav for '11 Daegu/London '12 (at this stage).

look at guys like kebede, wanjiru, both 22 years old and have done so well in the marathon, the USA does not have any marathon runners under 23 under 2:25.00 this year.
if salazar had rupp who is 1 or 2 years older than kebede run a marathon the letsrun board would be saying how he is ruining rupp. (salazar won new york in 2:09:41 at age 22) ethiopia has 2 juniors who have run 2:06.15 and 2:09 respectively. the coaches never want to have runners who are under 23 run marathons, but the proof is young runners can run good marathons.
Problem is, Wanjiru will not let Kebede jog 15:00 5k's for the first 25k, like he did today. In Beijing 2008 Kebede wisely let Wanjiru go, and stayed back to pick up the carnage. In London 2009 Kebede went with Wanjiru's first-half pace and hung on quite well for 2nd or 3rd, but did not close the way he did today.
His improvement curve definitely seems steeper than Wanjiru's at the moment. He still races with that same hunger he must have had when he needed to win just to get off the street.

I didn't catch the race. Is Fukuoka still rabbitless?
They had 3
No. name age height weight nationality
41 MITSUYA,Yu 24 166 50 JPN
42 RAMADHANI,Samson 26 165 54 TAN
43 KALES,John 25 172 51 KEN
took them thru 15/30/4445, 5935?, 103:15?
slowed 25-30km (1515), then Kebede threw down same as last year, but w/ 29:15 30-40km getting to 40k @ 15901, last 2.2 in 6:17
As it stands now, the only thing between Kebede and gold is....Wanjiru. So he is def #2 in the world, conservatively speaking. Wanjiru ran 205 freezing his bollocks off in Chi, which was good. There generally seems to be 2 tracks a marathoner can take - times, or medals. Kebede has chosen the latter, but there is a lot more $ in the former. If Wanjiru goes for the dosh (he already has an epic Olympic gold - why tarnish it with a WC bronze?), the Kebede can go for the goldOr they can all go for it in London or the fall. 2010 is a nothing year, so why not make some boocoo dolores.

We're not dealing with vectors or temperature.

...hey thanks Brett!
I just watched the coverage/video! Love the commentating although I don't speak Japanese, but love the enthusiasm-it cuts through so well!
Question: The weather looks mild there, how cold does it ever get there?
Thanks again for the link!
Weird results. Won in 2:05 but huge fall-off after that. This was basically a pack run for the 2:20-2:40 guys on a flat fast course. Last finisher was 2:48!
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
