Don't do it bro. Here’s why you can totally function being a vegetarian and running, I did it for many years, but when you cut out all animal products you limit the places that you can get protein from. Which means you will have to supplement it with soy because it’s the most common vegetable based protein out there and vegans rely on it. The problem is that soy will boost your estrogen level and decrease your testosterone there by making you a slower less healthy runner. It’s not a healthy way to go. There are lots of unprocessed vegetarian foods out there humans weren't meant to only eat plants. We are by design omnivores.
I disagree with this point. EVERYTHING has protein in it... hell, you could eat 2000 calories worth of carrots and get 50 grams of protein. A lot of herbivores rely on soy as a main protein, which in *moderation* has been shown to have many health benefits. As long as you spread it around, you will be fine on protein... as I'd mentioned, quinoa is one of the best sources of protein on the planet.
The "design" argument falls flat. We have flat molars for grinding plant material, our saliva contains enzymes for breaking down plant matter, our jaws move from side to side, our "canines" are those in name only, we chew our food, our stomachs have about 1/30th the hydrochloric acid necessary to deal with the bacteria found in raw flesh, about the only thing our "claws" are good for are painting and manicuring, and our intestines are very long compared to our bodies.... about 10 times the length which is a characteristic found in herbivores. Omnivores are usually around 4-5 and carnivores are typically 2-3.
