I don't think she dropped out.. i think she just fell off the pack and they announced it wrong ...
she just got a 40k split on the athlete tracker site (1:41 back)

What a weird race for the men...They shouldn't have gone out so hard. Sammy probably could have run a lot faster if he had run more consistent splits.
That seems to be the problem with Sammy. He doesn´t seem to be able to run any other way. It´s a very efficient way to break your opponents, but he will never get the WR unless he learns to run more even splits.
seriously, whats wrong with their feed? i hope they fix this
where's the official marathon tracker site? couldn't find it on the website
Sally Barsosio ran 31:15 for 10k at age 15 back in 1993! Lydia Cheromei ran 31:41 at the same age(15)in 1992! Incidentally those times happens to be their PRs todate, even though for Lydia that was the only 10k on the track she ever ran after which she concentrated on the 10k road and 5k track.
What an embarassment NBC 5 was. They kept cutting off Tony Reavis, they cut into worthless neighborhood descriptions during the major men's move, and then they lost the feed during the major women's move. Please get ESPN or someone decent doing this instead of the hack local Chicago newscasters! I'm so embarassed to be from Chicago!

Deena 6th in 2:28:50.
Looks like the Shackletons made an Ernest effort and showed some Eundurance. Just under 2:18.
yup. that's what works best for american marathoners and they have done so well in top races, so the kenyans should definitely follow their lead.
I don't think he'd run better at even splits, he'd just die sooner in the race.

why would you think this? Nothing wrong with sharing water with someone in the race.

I was talking about setting world records, idiot! Sammy crushes his opponents, but he will never run sub 2.03,59 if he keeps running marathons like fartlek runs.

You may be right, but world records in the marathon are overrated. The kid's a winner, and in an event that is notoriously difficult to dominate.
It's great to have a talent like Wanjiru competing in the marathon during his prime years, unlike guys like Tergat and Geb, who both started marathoning in 2003 after losing a little steam on the track. Still, I would have liked to see what Wanjiru could have done at 10,000 meters. His 26:41 at the age of eighteen was off the charts.
2:05.41...just a weird feeling that this time will win it...
I still think Sammy does not train. I think he just goes out there and runs the thing. No big deal, its easy for him. :)
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
