If you get to define "the greatest," then you will have no difficulty defining it in a way that gives the highest score to Geb, or Bekele, or Nurmi, or Zatopek, or Decker, or Kouris, or Deerfoot, or whoever else happens to be your preferred candidate. If, for example, you define it as the only person in the history of our species who was the fastest runner on the planet at every distance event on the track, from 3k to 10k as well as the steeple, then it's pretty clear who the greatest is.
But that wasn't the question that started this thread, and it isn't the question that has been discussed on this thread. The question was whether Henry Rono would be a contender today. If you don't like that question, then start your own thread on the well-worn subject of who the greatest distance runner is or was. (I'll try to avoid that thread.) And if you believe that Henry Rono simply lacked the talent to compete with the likes of runners like Geb and Bekele, that's fine, but don't pretend that you actually know that your belief is correct, and don't pretend that you actually know more about the subject than those of us who don't necessarily share your view.
