I had a similar experience, in that I went from running at a relatively high level, to almost no running and tons of lifting. I enjoyed many of the benefits the OP listed, but feel compelled to point something else out.
Doing one "HARD" full body workout a week is not bodybuilding. At best, it makes one a casual lifter. It's not a bad approach to weight lifting, but it's not bodybuilding.
Also, the amount of hostility here is hilarious. We can't go one day here without some emo distance runner wanting to lose muscle mass from his shoulders or legs or wang, all in the name of some ideal look that will maybe lower his 5k time.
All the OP said is he that he thinks he looks better as a lifter, and I would be willing to bet that the majority of the people who know him would agree.
With a workout regimen like he described, he's not gonna look like a roid-monster, he'll prolly look like a distance runner who gained 25lbs of muscle, which is almost always a good thing.
