Not true at all.
I have been a runner all my life. Many of the people from my high school class are already dead, Most of those remaining are grossly obese and in very poor health. The ones who are not obese are better but still sickly and not in good shape.
My running friends are doing much better. Take a look at people in their 60's and older. Most of them can hardly get around, to put it mildly.
Running is a lifetime endeavor that has many more benefits in addition to the running.
