Not sure why they wouldn't wanna see a showdown between jamaica and U.S.

In the meantime, they are all on the practice track working on exchanges, hopefully, without the green baton. Where did that come from?

Great. Doug Logan's going to call for another committee to review what went wrong. They will come up with a huge report that calls for USATF to schedule every practice and race of every US runner.
This guy is on the money. Just wait until Team USA entrance is stipulated on running dual meets for free, and not just for relays.
It's a conspiracy to help get Bolt his 3rd gold.
It is a tough call. The heads of the Americans are so large, that their craniums are almost always in and at the same time, out of the exchange zone. They can't get a break on that one.
lets allow a team to break the rules just so that we can see a closer final.
The actual wording of the IAAF rule defines the pass as starting when the outgoing runner touches the baton and specifies that the baton "must be passed within the zone."
Basic rules for outgoing relay runners (basic to high school runners AND UP):
1. See your teammate hit your tape mark.
2. Take off fast in your half of the lane.
3. DON'T PUT YOUR HAND BACK UNTIL YOU ARE IN THE ZONE.
4. Take the baton out of your teammate's hand.
Do the national team coaches just assume these guys know what they're doing? Doc is the old guy. He ought to know those.

The AP is reporting the appeal has been denied and the US is definitely out.

SSSSSSHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shite. There goes another silver.
they are still shown in the results.
I think the problem with these four guys representing the USA is that they are not SERIOUS about the job at hand. if you saw the post heat interview on VS, they were all too casual - "Just out here having fun". Save having fun for later, just do the job right when you're at the Worlds!
Shame on those guys...

Nice one, GB. We save your butts in WWII and all you can do is get us dq'd in the 2009 WC men's 4x1 semi-final? It looked like your sorry tails made the final anyway. What's all the fuss about? Isn't it tea time or something?
POD X INFINITY
It's funny how angry everyone is about this DQ.
You could call it karma-payback for the US officials getting Chaundry Martina DQ'ed in Beijing.
Excellent work, GB!
The US 1600 relay should run in stop snitching shirts http://www.urb.com/uploads/blogs/5417/79913-StopSnitchingTop.jpg and just stare at the brits after we get gold. (jokes people, cooperating with law enforcement is the right thing to do...though snitching because you're getting dusted in a relay is sad).

..ah, thanks for the laugh. this is unreal, the way we are able to botch the relay championship after championship

That's hilarious! Kind of like when Al Bundy mooned a busload of Japanese tourists and said, "THAT oughta pay 'em back for Pearl Harbor!"
Don't let the Brits train in the US any more. The BAF had a training camp in Los Angeles and local meets were crawling with UK sprinters all spring. That includes at least two of the members of the UK 4X100 team: Simeon Williamson and Tyrone Edgar (I don't remember if Devonish was out there or not).
Let 'em stay home and sprint in the rain next time. If they come back next year, everybody give them an earful about being POOR GUESTS.
To say that the Brits were already qualified for the final and therefore shouldn't have a reason to protest is obviously retarded. USA out means GBR one step higher on the podium. So of course they should protest. It's still a competition, isn't it? Don't tell me the US wouldn't have protested if Jamaica made an illegal exchange and beat them. Imagine the outcry on letsrun if that happened and a USATF official neglected to protest.
At the end of the day, the race officials should have spotted this and there would be no debate.
So the Brits try to take us down. Thanks guys. Don't expect any help when WWIII comes around.
