Er. Back on topic:
I would leave kenya too, with AK doing all those mind- and powergames to their athletes. The Middle Eastern countries are offering a pretty secure start in the major champs and all the funding necessary to progress.
If they stayed in Kenya, they would need not only to worry about earning money, but also if AK approves of every race they enter in order to do so.I don't blame them.
Although, to be fair, I still rate the athletes themselves as part of the East African dominance. The jersey itself doesn't get me fooled. Although it has raised attention for these countries.
I would leave Kenya because of Athletics Kenya too. Not the genocide and war that was/is happening there, but definitely Athletics Kenya.
The point of running for a living is to make a living as best you can, not to represent any country or corporation. These people are trying to pull themselves out of poverty, it's not like some rich kid from California moves to Trinidad to make the 5k team.
Whoever said that it was just like scientists was spot on.

Genocide and war happening in Kenya? God, are you stupid or just American?
The point is, they don't really leave. Many of them continue to train in Kenya, hang out at their local bars and only put on some obscure Arab country's vest at international meetings. And what is this that Athletics Kenya does to athletes?
I agree with the OP. I remember feeling sorry for the guy as he stood on the podium and looked up to the Bahrainian flag. I remember thinking "he probably doesn't even know the national anthem."
Some things should be valued higher than money:
1) Love
2) Country
3) God (if one is religious)
4) Freedom

Now how many out those do US citizens enjoy?
A fair amount more than most countries.

Well I think we all enjoy love and freedom, God I can't really speak to, but if you're asking whether we enjoy country, personally I can't stand it but it does make it on the radio so I guess someone's listening.
it would have been really cool if he would have named himself malcolm jamal warner. total pimp.
Thanks, Nik
