nick symmonds 3rd in 143 high?

so is alan webb the real deal?

i didn't expect symmonds to race like this outside the states/

good race for him.

his physique really reminds me of peter snell.

right at where webb ran a couple years ago and also long over-due. throw him in a 1500m at galan.

Who would of thought the DIII runner out of Willamette would be running faster than Webb.

Snell had better form - he looked like he could run. Symmonds doesn't look like he can run as fast as he does. Every step looks like a struggle. KD probably wants to shoot him even though he puts on that nice guy act for interviews.

Regarding Reed, the comment I remember was something along the lines of, "Nick shouldn't be disappointed with losing to Reed because he is right now a superior runner, though this could change at any point". So, this was a pretty accurate statement at the time, with this race, it looks to be more even, Nick has gotten a big pr which brings him a lot closer to Reed status, but he still has to perform at worlds like Reed has, this is a good step in the right direction.

is that why people of african descent are so dominant in the pole vault, shot put, decathlon, javelin, discus and hammer throw? what are the "aspects important to athletic achievement" that somehow encompass both short sprints and long distance, but not these events? please, tell me more about these "facts." you're obviously some sort of expert in evolutionary biology.

it is no surprise to me nick is running 143. he has great strength and 400m speed of 48 flat. 47 low for the flat 400 if he trained.

lomong has great strength and has run 49 high in the relay and 145.

The American record is 1:42.59 (9th alltime - almost 24 years ago) set by Johnny Gray on August 8, 1985 in Koblenz, Germany. I wonder if Symmonds will attempt to go in the "Gray" area within the next few years. Any takers on that? If he does, I don't think there will be any doubt about a possible medal at 800m.

at this level competition, all of these men are outliers. think of sebastian coe, yuriy borzakovskiy, and steve cram, not to mention alberto juantorena and joachim cruz. all of these men were white and latino, respectively, yet all of them have run sub 1:43 and aren't africans. i think we have to be careful before we say whether it's racial or not because there are outliers everywhere. it just depends how the outliers are applied.

I hope not. It was clearly because black guys did not have the opportunity to be developed as quarterbacks, and they are now going to begin to dominate the QB position as they do in almost all fields of athletics.

how about the high jump? everybody knows white guys can't jump, right?

the high jump has been contested since the first olympic games. it doesn't require expensive equipment, like the pole vault-- just a bar and a mat. here's the racial breakdown of the top 16 all-time jumpers:

3 are of african descent, including the world record holder.

1 is chinese.

12 are caucasian.

i just want to know what this magic gene is that allows people of african descent to dominate the sprints and distance events but doesn't allow them to jump high or throw far.

as for black quarterbacks in the NFL, last year there were six black quarterbacks that started. i wouldn't call that dominating. you're right that blacks weren't given a chance to quarterback for a long time. now that they are, it turns out that they're just like white quarterbacks-- some are really good, some are godawful.
