But he used to coach the distance team also and was pretty good with several all-americans. Why would he stop overseeing it just because he has an assistant?

I ran for Penn, Powell certainly coaches the distance guys but not like one would traditionally think. He drives the vans our to practices and coaches at meets, etc. But, as far as how practices are conducted and what workouts are done this is handled strictly by Bonnette.

Powell is an excellent coach; one of the best in the US and is one of the most resourceful men I've ever met when it comes to running physiology and training methods. The Don knows his shit.

Harvard won both dual meets against Yale today. The men edged out the Elis, 26 to 29. The Crimson women got spots 1 through 6 while defeating Yale by the largest margin in years. This marks the third year straight that Harvard has beaten Yale in this meet.

Also the season premiere races for Chenoweth and Richardson.

Men had to be disappointed at finishing behind Dartmouth, which ran strong through four men (and which will be penalized less at Heps for a lagging fifth). Nate Edelman (C) and Tom Robbins (D) looked very tough individually.

Cornell's upperclasswomen are starting to assert themselves and the team was strong through six runners (who were all in before Penn's #2); their Stephanie Pancoast was the top Ivy finisher, in 16th.

For men. I'm actually having a hard time with the last 3. Harvard beat Yale this weekend and Yale beat Penn a couple of weeks ago but I haven't seen anything from brown.

To answer the question about whether or not Brown as raced. If anything, they seem to be avoiding the larger crowd stuff until New Englands.

Injury News:

Chas Gillespe of Harvard is out for the season due to injury, as reported by thecrimson.com today. They did not specify the injury. Hopefully he'll be back for the indoor season.

Please provide a link too the article. I was only able to find a mention that he has not raced this season due to injury, nothing about him not racing this season.

The only result I've seen from the past weekend was from that "Penn State" meet, where the Cornell men beat Yale (and everybody else). Yale actually matched up pretty well with the Big Red through four, but had a moderate fifth-runner gap, which inflated their score. I think Yale can be competitive in the upcoming championship meets.

The Yale women, on the other hand, really got drubbed by Cornell, with at least seven Cornell women getting in before the first Eli.

The Princeton women came third at PreNats, the Princeton men came a close second to Texas at Princeton where the Columbia women won easily (Penn & Columbia men also competed at Princeton).

Columbia was at prenats,that was their B-sqad beating up on Penn... interesting that Columbia actually had one kid in ahead of Princeton's 5th... sets up interestingly for Heps where it'll be the pack of Columbia vs Leung/Cabral+backup behind the Colum pack.
