Know nothing about Timmons, BUT severals have correctly stated that he was not unique in the technical or personal aspects of coaching - in the 60s and early 70s. What someone said - a mixture of results. And Oregon had The Bowerman/Lydiard method, and Villanova. What is lost in the bashing, is that the 60s and 70s (from my perspective) was a time of tremendous experimentation with how to do this distance running thing. There were even guys who successfully employed LSD - both ways, for dif purposes.
But I don't think thats the story of the article. This guy said the same thing over and over and over and over. He pretty much lost me after the 20th slam. (actually much before). What was said is nothing new or novel. there is nothing informative or instructive or educational here and nothing motivational. Siskel and Ebert would be 2 huge thumbs down. Does anyone go away better off than before ... gheez
Another starving cannibal. A new low? - nahhh just another one. No food here - this happened 45 yrs ago
