By "it" do you mean Rupp breaking 4:00? It's all about the pace. If he goes through c.58/1:58 I think he's golden.

While I know it's within the realm of possibility, It's also highly likely it just won't happen.
There are certainly going to be people out there who would like to see it not happen, but it is far more likely that he will dust 4 minutes.
Last year he tried racing miles without doing speed work, this year he has actually worked out with the milers.
I'd say if the race is no slower than 2:02 at the half it's about 99% that he is going under. He could go out in 1:54 and hang on, and he me be able go out in 2:03 and come back in 1:56. The real question here is how much will he break it by. I think after going 1:49 anything slower than 1:56 at the half will feel quite nice. I hope it moves from the start.
Watching that 3:58 dmr 1600 he did, he went out in :57 then slowed way up (didn't get splits) and then got moving again late but was outkicked buy Ulrey. Supposedly he was sick that day, which was about a month and a half ago now? For a long distance guy like Galen, going out in :57 while sick should kick your ass. Having a miler catch up to you and sit on you for the next half mile doesn't really help your cause. I predict a much better result from this. Who will they get to rabbit? I assume the ducks have a couple other guys on the bubble as well, Acosta and someone else? If Vin really wanted to get these guys in he might have Centro run through 1200 in 2:57. I can see Rupp handling that and closing maybe in 58 high or 59 but that's about it. If he want's to go faster he'd prolly have to try to do it how German did and hit 58.X the whole way.
Great reporting by OregonLive:"Rupp dipped under two minutes in the 800 last week. He figures to crack four minutes on Saturday, but by how much?"

Hi Ducksoup
It's the Oregonlive track board.
http://www.oregonlive.com/trackandfield/If Galen is paced, I think 57-58; if it is more of a roller derby affair, then 59.
FYI he went :57,1:58,2:59,3:58 for the splits on the DMR, so basically 57,61,61,59. Looks like he moved to the outside of lane 1 when Ulrey caught him to offer the lead (unusual for him so obviously not feeling strong) and then resumed the inside when Ulrey didn't take over.
I'd say after going 7:44, 13:18, 1:49 and some workouts with the likes of Wheating, Centro and Acosta he's much more fit for the mile now.
3:55.03 Bank on it.

Wheating pacing the sub4 attempt by Rupp and AJ.
this for real or speculation? don't they have another guy at 4:02 or 4:01 too? wheating may not be the best rabbit, they guy usually runs near the back of every race then moves up and kicks.
except wheating does that when he is running 1:45. Call me crazy but im pretty sure that wheating can run 1:57-58 without relying on a solid kick.
Rupp is a different runner this year. He's strong enough to break 4 off a slow pace (2:05) and certainly to hold a faster early pace like 1:54.

are you awake? it's not about if wheating can run under 1:57 dear child, just if he'll be a good rabbit. in fact he's so fast that a :56 leading might feel easy. have you ever rabbited a race where there was some pressure like helping others qualify. for some it's more nerve racking (more adrenaline) than their own races. this is why A LOT of rabbits, especially first timers go out too fast.
and if you are not with me now, then you yes you are crazy.

He should run on a legal indoor track, not oversized.
