Tune - 67:18
Mergia - 67:48
Ongori - 67:50
Gelan - 67:59
Yeah this is what the half is all about. You go out f-ing fast. Then somewhere in the middle somebody makes a hard move and everyone else has to respond or else they'll be out of it.
But dang you feel a lot worse after 18k than you do after 15! At that point you just gotta hang on. Kudos to Makau for a great run.
He should be pretty rockin'.

i think gelan's time of 67:59 is a new womens world junior record.
Rothlin DNF and the one European girl finished 13th.
What could Shalane and Kara have done in a race like this? I bet they could've mixed it up in the top 3.
But Tune is just on another level on the roads right now. Might have been tough for our girls to take getting smacked like that.
Makau how many times under 60 minutes for the half-mth??
7, I think. His time was the 2nd fastest ever and broke Wanjiru's course record by 1 sec.

While we're mentioning slow white guys, might as well point out that Rothlin blew up, 5k splits have been basically 15-16-16
I Just updated the front page and pointed out a nice article we found on Rothlin prior to the race:
http://www.gulfnews.com/sport/Athletics/10287725.htmlRothlin says, "At the Olympics in Beijing, I was the first white runner and I finished just six seconds behind Lel. I was very happy about that, but they [Africans] don't care about times they just want to run. We white runners look at the time and that's the biggest thing I learnt during my time in Kenya. I try to run a perfect race and I know the time will be fast if I run a perfect race."
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
