What is Webb's best indoor mile?
What is Webb's best indoor mile?
didn't webb run a 3:56i a couple years ago before running 3:51 in april in iowa outdoors?
coming off an injury in his first ever indoor meet, german just ran 2.5 seconds slower indoors than bk's outdoor pr. as I said during the xc season, this is greatness staring us in the face. he is going to break bk's 3k and 5k records if webb, lagat or teg don't get them first. I don't know whether he will be a 3:48 miler someday but he is going to take probably 3:49-50 speed and his tremendous endurance and dominate the u.s. 5k ranks for a long time, if he can stay healthy.
everyone is comparing fernadez to rupp and tryng to prove silly points
one is a veteran and one is a rookie
wait until both are veterans to compare,
or compare marks in rupps rookie season.
actually, although that is logical
lets just admit that 356.5 is the best indoor track debut by any
collegiate distance runner ever.
that is the only fact that rupp cant argue with.
oh and maybe one day rupp will break 4

Kennedy's mile PR was 3:56.21, so GF is only 0.29 slower.
And Kennedy's 1500m PR (3:38.2) converts to 3:56 mile, so no difference there.

I am a German fan, but until he get's fairly close to Kennedy's 3K and 5K marks I will not get nuts on this. Kennedy stood the test of time, besides winning footlocker and NCAA's as a freshman, 2 things German didn't do.
Where is the video for this race?
troll this post is fake he didnt run such a time i was there
How about some love for Dorian? Somewhat under the radar out of HS to a national runnerup last year.
357 is smoking no matter how you look at it. A big PR for sure.

True, He was tired from the relay leg the night before. He says he was spiked, although I'm not sure that really slowed him down.
I'll wait 'til outdoor season to get amped over this. Ryun ran his race on a 12(!) lap, lousy wooden track, so lets not go too overboard over German. A fantastic mile but he's still more a 5k guy.
Comparing Kennedy and German is stupid. Sure Kennedy won the NCAAs as a freshmen, but he didn't beat a 27:33 olympian to do it. And I would argue that if German did not pull up lame with 2.5k to go, he could have won. Thats right, I honestly believe that German could have won NCAA Cross nationals in 08.
But arguing who is the better college runner is pointless! In a few years no one will care how well he ran in college. Instead, they will be asking how did he do at the Olympics?
i'm thinking at least 3:44-3:45 mile by the end of the season. and bob kennedy? wtf who cares german wouldve beat him by at least 35 seconds. and german>>>>>>rupp hence all the times where he beat him

What an amazing recovery from his 'injury' last year, lol.
Guy is a wimp!
Wow you're right I almost forgot that because someone runs a faster time in a different race that they are better. It's a good thing I beat everyone in the Big 10 in the mile because the winning time was 4:20 last year in indoors and I've run a 4:17.
who cares what he runs, we're missing the important thing here.. he is so hotttt!!
German Fernandez
2008: 4:00 1600m, 7:59 3000m, 8:34 2 mile, 14:25 5k @ woodward park, 23:34 8k @ pre-nats
2009: 3:56.5i mile, ... ?
who knows what he will be capable of this year, if he stays healthy
would fernandez have beaten alan webb yesterday?
Great run but the mile is not run at world indoors it\'s the 1500, and the mile is only really a big thing in the states these days.
there is no mile in the olympics..............
Im a rupp fanboy but damn,
German wont run anything over 5k this summer but I wouldnt doubt if German could take rupp in a 10k
Sorry but I keep track of it, as well as all track & field records in the whole world. And they are updated daily! Just take a look at my site :
So German Fernandez improved U20 Mile WR.
Moreover, the best US junior indoor time before it was achieved by the Great Jim Ryun himself with 3:58.6 in 1966 (it was the World Record until 2006).
