webb is a great runner, but not a good enough xc runner to even come close to this one. there are some tough guys running sunday. lots of contenders

i saw his name listed on the entries, and was surprised that he was running. i doubt he will run
here are the individual winners over the past few years:
1998 Andre Williams
1999 Ray Appenheimer
2000 Matt Downin
2001 Jared Cordes
2002 Jared Cordes
here are the team champions over the past few years:
1998 Reebok Enclave - 40
1999 Nike Farm Team - 28
2000 Wisconsin Runner RT - 60
2001 Hansons' Running Shops 40
2001 Hansons' Running Shops 35
Cordes won it the past two years - he wouldn't be a bad pick.
As for the team title, Hanson runners have been good over the past few years, they seem to have a deep team.
Webb will run and win. His forte is not X-C, but he is beginnging to run well and enjoy (watch him train often) and is so much more talented that anyone else in the field.
My only desire for him is that unlike last year, he enjoys the sport.
if sell runs
sell wins
i don't think so. this is the 10k not the mile. he may be talented, but he cant keep up in a race that long. his forte is on the track, running 1/6 of the distance he is running on sunday. i like webb, but he won't win. i'll cheer for him during the track season.
He beat Jonathan Riley and Dan Lincoln over Thanksgiving weekend.
He was in the top 15 in the 10k at cross nationals while at Michigan.
He definitely has the talent to win this weekend. I don't know what his plans are for the race, but he should never be an afterthought in a race run in the states.
nincompoop, you're an idiot man...Webb was 15th at NC's last year, that is a much more competitive field than club Nats. He has the talent and the mental capacity. If he runs, he'll win. And then rip city on the track this year as well.
i may be a nincompoop, but not an idiot.
i'm sorry if i hurt your feeling, talking about your idle like that, but he is not invincible, and he is not as good of an xc runner as a lot of guys there. he took 15th. so what. i never said he sucked.
what is his pr in the 10k for xc?
thats what i thought bitch
Webb's got a pretty good shot. He's a good XC runner. I mean come on he was second only to Ritz at Footlocker, and then went on to run really well at DI cross as a true frosh. If he's fit he should be in it to win it.
I don't know what his XC PR is, but he has beaten a LOT of excellent runners in the last two years. As a matter of fact, in the last two years, he may be a better XC runner than he is a miler!
That will change this spring and summer, though. He is going to set the track on fire!!!
I heard Alan talk this past weekend at Footlocker South, and he indicated to everyone there that he was very pleased with his training right now, that he felt great and was really looking forward to the XC Champs. 70 - 80 mpw right now, did not indicate any specific workouts. He said he's felt a lot better since having his appendix taken out, and is looking forward to racing. He seemed pleased with his recent road race result as well.
The long term goal, obviously, is still the 2004 Olympic team (along with everyone else).
well didnt run ncaa last year, it was two years ago, and he wasnt 15th, he was 11th despite going out hard and fading running a 29:31. he did beat luchini, mcardle, dobson and robison in that race. he should be top 3 and fight for the win.
i'll give him top three
if sell runs
sell wins
29:38 at Furman at 01 XC Nationals, where he was 11th. BTW, I don't think Cordes has ever placed that high at NCAAs, yet he won club xc the past two years
cordes has a pr of sub 29
sub 29 in xc or on the track?
i have no idea. he is a good steepler (placed5th at usatf), and i just saw he ran a 28:40 or something in a road race...........this may sound dumb, but that should equal a 29- or faster on the golf course sunday in 60 degree weather
