I'd like to get some thoughts on the following 2 different strategies in training:
1) Over loading a specific type of training for a period then switching to another type of training for a period. An example would be focusing on endurance for a month with many threshold workouts and marathon paced longer runs to push out the lactate and aerobic threshold as much as possible then switching gears to focusing on speed for the next month with lots of VO2 max workouts and fast repition workouts before switching back. Mini-Periodization in a sense.
2) Evenly work on all aspects. Keeping a good mix of threshold, VO2 Max, Marathon paced runs and fast repitions in the schedule at all times.
