I was scanning through an old copy of Track and Field News today and in the back of the magazine in the "On Your Marks" section of April 2008 is a blurb "Rupp Off To Florida For Some Sprint Training." In the blurb it highlights how Rupp was heading to work with USATF High Performance coach Brooks Johnson to develop hamstring and gluteal muscles. The goal was to produce speed and power improvements at the end of the 10k.
I'm guessing Brooks is at good at improving our 10k athletes as he is at developing our relays.
Furthermore, how does a college redshirt find an opportunity to travel completely across country to train without somehow breaking an NCAA violation? Who pays for all this stuff?
