This just in:
3 former SCAC runners to race a mile today at the Bill Coughlin Track in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Start List:
1. Will Harper, Mexico City, Mexico
2. Joe Brew, Paris, France
3. Jon Snape, Nashville, Tennessee
The race is up in the air as none of the athletes have competed of late.
Harper, 2 years into a bout of achilles tendonitis has run less than 15 times this year, with a long run of four miles. However, he has dramatically increased his beer consumption and is currently weighing in at 152 lbs - his heaviest of all times.
Brew, having recently "shown his stuff" with a last-place finish in the SCAC 400 is hoping for a breakthrough day. He was last seen walking teary-eyed through rural Guatemala after a failed attempt at a five mile tempo run.
Snape, was never good at running but has the huge motivation of racing his idols. He hasn't run in two weeks but has a very intimidating seven mile long run within the last month under his belt.
With an endurance background, Snape is expected to take the race out hard - maybe below 75. Brew is expected to make his move, if he can, with 400 to go. Harper can sprint faster for forty meters than both of them, and is banking on this talent for victory.
