Helmer needs to get it together and stop hiring young inexperienced former athletes who are only a few years out of college as assistant coaches. The IU women were dead last and the men were 7th at the Big Tens outdoor and both teams were 9th indoors at conference.
Helmer wants young and inexperienced. This is basically a retirement job for him. He wants someone young who will go out on the road and do the grunt work. Doesn't really care about winning -- just putting in his time.
