it would be incredibly awesome if that happened
Hey, it'd be great, a la Bob Kennedy.
However, much of the talk like this is not very fair to G.F. Three big names I can think of right off the bat came from three consecutive years: Bill McChesney, Alan Scharsu, and then Jeff Nelson.
There are so many factors that enter into the equation, not the least of which is adjusting to college.
I'm not trying to say anything bad about the three big names above. McChesney made an Olympic team, All-American Scharsu won some big races during an exceedingly difficult time (26-year-old Henry Rono, WR holder Samson Kimombwa, Suleiman Nyambui, Motshwarateu, et al), and Jeff Nelson to me must always go down as one of the real greats, despite everything that happened at Oregon.
The greatest service people could do for German is to leave him alone a little bit, let him adjust and get his work done. He's going to a great team and he'll be under enough pressure.
I hope he has a great four years. OSU as a team is also going into a great, fun time for them. As a Texas Longhorn alum, my ten-gallon Stetson is off to them.
Well considering the fact he didn't win HS XC Nats as a senior I find it difficult to see him winning NCAA's as a freshman.
I agree... But can Fernandez run the longer distances? I kind of wondered why his coach didn't stick him in the 5k at the Stanford meet in early April. Would have been fun to see what he could have done...and maybe qualified for the trials.
But 10k cross is a whole other beast. I like this kid and hope he wins...but I'll guess he finishes 3rd. How is the Kenyan recruiting class this year? His place probably depends a little on that as well...
A lot of truth here. Fernandez might not even be the best 10k runner in his class let alone in the NCAA.
Think about who's coming back next year.
Rupp
Songok
Kinsella
Withrow
Eagon
Vail
McNeil
Bumbi
Kiptoo
im calling it now...fernadez is injured throughout his ncaa career
German is the man. I would love to see him win it although it is very unlikely. Anybody but Galen R.
NCAA's is stout no way he makes top five probably not top ten my guess is 10th.
Chris Derrick will be top 10
He'll probably redshirt next year...
Sam Chelanga from Liberty ftw!
and scratch withrow. He and lacey got kicked out of school for bad grades this spring. Big hit for the badgers.
I'm going to string piano wire across the 5th mile of the NCAA championships. Who's with me?
Parker Valby post 5k interview... Worst of all time? Are Parker Valby interviews always cringe?
MSU men > NAU by 1 point even though Nico Young and Colin Sahlman tripled!!
