Hey All
Last summer I decided that the last thing I want out of "competitive" running is to run under 16 minutes in a 5k.
After a summer of somewhat consistent training (could have been better), I managed to improve my 5k PR from 16:50 to 16:27 and my 10k PR from 36 flat to 34:20.
I've been running much more consistently this summer and am averaging about 55-60mpw. I ran a 16:21 last week but I feel like 22 seconds is a lot of time to drop by September 20th (goal race).
I'm doing occasional hillworkouts and 150m strides every few days. Aside from these, I'm basically out running 70-80mins a day with crunches and push-ups every other night.
PRs: 53.4, 1:58.2, 4:29.2, 10:10, 16:21, 34:20, 1:21:34
Are there any suggestions on how I can have a better shot at 15:59 in 2 months? Is this a realistic goal? What's the best way to bump up my mileage from my current 55-60? Any good workouts I should start focusing on? I'm really looking for any constructive suggestions on how I can improve my training to hit that time in 2 months. Thanks!
