You are an idiot. I am over here now. I race these women all the time. I see them go from B races to 1:56 in one season. You live in an amateur fantasy world where WCSN and blogs make you feel like you are part of this. You know nothing.

More American athletes have failed tests in the last 8 years than any other nation. And the majority of them failed outside of America. How can YOU say the Russians or any other nation don't have a 'stigma' against taking drugs, when US athletes are the dirtiest bunch of bast5rds out there!!!

9.8 stay home? when has that ever happened? I could be wrong...but pretty sure the answer is never. (at least not legal times).

Ummm perhaps that has to do with that the US conducts more tests (yes, they even test outside the country) than any other nation and there are more US athletes to test.
That said, many other nations do match (and some surpass)the US on a proportional basis but unfortuantly there are some countries with a bunch of world class athletes that have a very poor to non-existent testing record. Amazing how few of your athletes will fail if you don't test them or give lot's of forewarning (e.g. like a meet they are traveling too that they know there will be testing)......
Which ones did you race against that run 1:56?
No Russians ran under 1:57 in 2006 or 2007. In 2008, 3 of the 4 Russians who have gone under 1:57 were all legitimate 800 runners before, running close to their PR at the Russian Nationals. The fourth improved 2+ seconds from her previous PR, but is a converted 400m hurdler.
The Russian Nationals have typically been fast - that is how they run against each other and since Russia has a history the last 8 years or so of good 800/1500 runners, their nationals are often just as competitive as GL meets, if not more so - hence they peak for that just for the chance to make the WC or Oly team. They are simply rounding into form at the right time.
Russians = Drugs. The Russians have plenty scientific knowledge to go around so that basically means they can develop untraceable peds. Russia makes Balco look like a home-based reefer selling operation.

yeah I know this one runner who was not that fantastic a few years ago and now has run sub 1hr for 21k and 2:06 for the marathon, it just stinks how everyone seems to cheat these days and did you see that girl who finished 2nd last night in the 1500m, she has come out of nowhere and is now challenging the best in the world.
So I know what you are talking about and feel for all the athletes who have to race against such runners

I'm not sure but I thought the general consensus was a bit of both. I could have misread though.
I don't see why it's so hard to imagine girls who can run around high 3:50s for the 1500 can't run in the 1:54-55 range.
Jelimo is quite attractive, better looking than most sprinters for sure.

I don't know about 9.8, but there have been some 9.9's left off the team and some close to breaking 20. The U.S. use to be deeper in the sprints.
spot on, vindicated eventually
