Did anyone else notice the really, really odd officiating going on at the Canadian Olympic Trials today?
In the 200m, with guys needing to run standards to go to Beijing, on a WINDY day, the wind meter reads "2.00" twice. (Later in the 200m Women's final, with the flags BILLOWING, the meter read "0.00".
Then they call the field back for a false start in the Men 400m Hurdles... except there was no false start. Adam Kunkel's blocks slipped, the field had about 5 steps into the race and the false-start gun blew. Everyone is called back, NO FALSE START IS CHARGED TO THE FIELD, and the race is run again. You could see the officials scrambling on the field trying to figure out how to play it off.
I felt like I was at a mid-1980's USATF Championship.
