Is it just me not looking properly or are the jobs not posted?
If they are posted posted, can someone please provide the links?
I see the Wisco job but not UArk or Stanford.

Who says the Stanford job is open yet? Tegen has left, yes, but who knows who will be the head coach to do the hiring? Edrick may be on his way to Fayetteville. If that's the case, I feel bad for the rest of the staff, who probably have less than 10 years of college coaching experience combined.
Both jobs are posted on their respective university websites. Given the high profile nature of the jobs, it's not like they need to advertise externally to attract the applicants they want. Posting on ncaa.org or the liks will only mean 500 more unqualified applicants will send in resumes.
On a related note, does anyone know if it's a federal law for a university to post a track job offering? A friend of mine who is a volunteer assistant was told by his boss that they couldn't just promote him to replace the paid assistant that left. He was required to post the job opening and my friend would have to apply for it.
Is it a law like for equality or is my friend getting the runaround from his boss?
the arknsas job was posted weeks ago. Not sure about stanford.
A lot of universities have the policy that all searches for all positions are handled the same: postings on web sites, phone interviews, on site interviews, etc. This avoids the law suits that inevitably arise when there appears to be "a pattern of unfair" practices in hiring. This includes internal candidates. I've been on committees where there is only one qualified candidate and we still had to bring two others to campus for interviews. CYA

anyone ever seen a head football/basketball/baseball (or asst. for that matter) job posted on a website? not to my knowledge, and i'd assume coveted jobs like these xc openings would be filled in much the same way as their larger sport cousins.
It is a law but might be university policy
They slapped up their posting on the back of a double wide trailer out behind the Waffle House in Ffayettville to make it legal.

The Stanford cross job hasn't been posted. The assistant T&F opening posted is for a throws coach:
Stanford University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Track and Field Coach. This is a twelve-month, full-time, full-benefit position that reports to the director of Track and Field. It is directly responsible for administering and or assisting with the administration of all areas related to the success of a Track and Field and Cross Country program within the Division I intercollegiate program and the policies established by the NCAA, Pac-10 and Stanford University. The candidate must have coaching experience or a competitive playing background at the college/university level. Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, interpersonal and supervisory skills are essential in the event areas of men’s and women’s throws. Bachelor's degree is required. Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position vacancy is filled.
