Does anyone have any information about the job at Ohio Northern. I know most people, myself included have speculated that Jason Maus will get it, but has there been anything announced?

I've heard the official decision won't be made until July.
Why hasn't Northern hired anyone yet. I thought the way everyone talked Jason Maus was the man. Why hasn't he got the job. What about their other assistant coach did he get a shot at it?
Was Phil Gordon interviewed?
I'm starting to figure out some places don't hire someone as long as possible so they don't have to pay someone under contract for that time. They wait as long as they can to save money and thus frustrate people that are suppose to get the job and are already in place. Sometimes those people get tired of waiting and end up leaving when they initially were promised the job and did not consider leaving. Thats happened at a couple places already this summer. Does it make smart business sense probably but you start to lose the loyalty, faith, and respect of somebody that you promised the job to. Now I don't know if thats the case at ONU, but you never know.
It is interesting that the other OAC openings were quickly filled and this has been known about for months and still no word.
Has the Muskingum job been filled yet? I know the Berg job has been, but I still haven't heard diddily squat about ONU. Are they still interviewing candidates?
I don't think it makes sense that a school with that much money (and one that was paying Cole so much) would stand around and not fill the position simply because they wanted to save a few dollars.
OACDistance.com says the Musky job has been filled my former ONU coach Jake Gleason.
per oacdistance.com Jake Gleason has taken the Muskingum job. Amazing that nearly 8 weeks after the season the ONU administration hasn't filled the position.

Where is Cole at now?
Heard that a young coach from Centre College? was hired as head coach and Maus will be assistant...but don't quote me on that
big mistake...
Did Cole find another job? If so, where?

I can't believe they hired Ryan New. Holy crap. A program with that kind of history could not attract a better candidate than that? I assume he will be handling the sprints/jumps side of things and not the distance coaching. I know he has no experience with distance other than assisting during the fall cross country like most Div 3 track coaches until they are allowed to start track training. He was a 400m runner when he was competing just a few short years ago. He comes from Centre College....not much happening there from a program standpoint. Some of these hirings this summer are blowing me away. Ryan has been coaching a grand total of 4 years and he is ready to be a head coach at a typically strong program? Are you kidding me? Unless ONU is not the ONU I remember from 10 years ago or so. I have not followed Div 3 much lately as I am at the Div 1 level now but isn't ONU still a top program in the Ohio area? They used to have one of the best indoor facilities around...held NCAA's a time or two. The previous two coaches don't even compare and should be insulted by what they are being replaced with. Unbelievable. I am in shock. I wish him the best. But I have to say, the AD at ONU must be clueless or simply an idiot. Or they were looking for a cheap hire...unfortunately that seems to be a new trend. Go young and cheap.
Cole will be coaching pole vault at Tiffin University this year.
Got a chance to talk to Cole last night. Leroy you are right he is at Tiffin this year. He is going back to school for the next 1.5 years to finish up his masters degree in Tiffin's MBA sports administration program. He is excited about getting back to actually coaching and not running as many meets. He said his main responsibility will be coaching Pole Vault where he has had very good success and then also helping out with hurdlers where he has been equally successful. Being a good friend of his I wish him the best.
Kosminidiot:
Why do you come on these boards and act like you know what is going on around the midwest? You don't. Some of the things you are posting are just plain foolish. I feel sorry for whatever college you are working at, or hanging around at. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but.....responsibility should also be a part of the equation.
if your such a big time div 1 guy now then why do you care what is happening at div 3? You obviously have no idea; and until you have solid information you should keep your mouth shut. Your assuming that Ryan New must not be a good coach because he has only 4 years of experience and comes from a program that has not produced much; so by that token about 90% of coaches should not be good coaches! How did you get from div 3 to div 1? Someone assumed you knew track and was not concerned that you came from div 3; had they been as big an idiot as you, you never would be where you are now!
I have known Ryan New for the past three years and have witnessed first hand his coaching abilities. And not to brag, but I have coached over 30 All-Americans in Track and Field including two different National Champions, and two different National Runner-ups; and New knows his stuff! He is one of the most dedicated and concerned individuals I have ever met. He is honest and fair to a fault, and will do anything and everything to help his athletes reach their full potential.
ONU Track is lucky to have Ryan New as their new head coach; OAC you better watch out!
