This SEC-USC shat is supremely uninteresting and borderline retarded.
My picks for the players of the year/MVPs, whatever
Offensive Player of the Year: Beanie Wells, OSU
Defensive Player of the Year: Sean Lee, PSU
Special Teams Player of the Year: Austin Starr, IU
Freshman of the Year: Pryor, OSU (Boeckman gets hurt early)
Coach of the Year: Joe Pa (Swan Song?)
sean lee's out with a torn acl. watch defensive end maurice evans light it up though. i think he had 12.5 sacks last year as a sophomore defensive end. i think psu will be 8-0 heading into the shoe for the big ten title. psu has their entire o-line and d-line back and if you can win in the trenches (18 of 22 starters), you win in the big 10.
usc may "win when it counts", but maybe if they weren't so full of themselves, they could realize that conference games, even if you're a 41 point favorite at home, are also important.
the buckeyes probably shouldn't have been in the title game last year, but they overachieved after losing most of their offense, including their heisman trophy winner, 2 first round wrs and a 3rd or 4th round rb. 11-1 and winning the big 10 gives you as much a right as anyone to play in the title game. the thing is, this was supposed to be their year, not last year. they are loaded with talent. don't be surprised if they go to sc and beat them. 2 abberations over the past 6-7 years are all that have kept them from being called a dynasty. usc gets a pass for some of their terrible losses in season. the buckeyes get ridiculed for how they've performed 7 weeks after their regular season. luckily the big 10 is allowing teams to play after thanksgiving now, so hopefully that will help keep some of the staleness away.
psu has handled most sec teams in bowl games. we'll be happy to play georgia or florida or whatever superior sec team is out there.
