I haven't seen any comment or reason from Deena, and we may not. If she's hurt, she's not going to say so a month before the trials marathon. If not, she may feel there's no need to explain her actions.

I can't imagine what would happen if Deena is hurt. The Trials would be borderline humorous. It could be really really ugly.
Unless it's something really bad (and I'm not saying there's anything going on at all - I know about as much as anyone here) she could still X-train until the race and make the top 3, probably even win. Anyone remember Joanie's knee surgery right before the '84 Trials? Jeez, if the Internet had existed then, think of all the speculation THAT would have created!
I don't know Jim. Team Mammoth has had a difficult time time getting Olympians BACK ON THE TEAM. Browne and Meb both could not repeat. Is Deena next?
By the way MEB HAS PULLED OUT OF LONDON.
Much like Deena did at Lisbon and Dobson and Rhines both did in New York. OUCH.

That makes a lot of sense Jim. What did she give the race and press as a reason for pulling out? It is unlikely that she would pull out and then say NO COMMENT.
Perhaps she learned from the Paso Robles incident that bad mouthing race directors who don't cater to her is not in her best interest? Making public comments about negotiations that don't go in her favor only makes her look petty. Part of negotiation skills is the ability to leave the table.
"I was going to race a 10K in Paso Robles, CA where some of my favorite California wines come from, but the race director wouldn't give me a complimentary entry. I crossed it off my list."
Follow up question.
Why do elite's help in publicizing a race by putting it on their website prior to having a set deal with the race?

Yeah, because that is so easy to do.
On another note. Stuff like this goes to the professionalism (or lack of) of elite distance running in the US. All of the other professional sports keep fans up-to-date on injuries, who's playing, how long they will be out, etc. Fans of T&F are left to the guessing game.

That is a great point. The Nyrr 8k one month before was advertising:
Ritz who was a no show
Abdi who was a no show
Dobson who was a no show
Moran who was a no show
Webb who ended up with food poisoning.
