after reading this article I know longer believe Americans are hard on American runners. On the men's selection they made sure that everyone knew that they did not except Tsuyoshi Ogata getting dropped in the final 1k of the race "easily."
Ogata’s result in the World Championships was good, but ultimately he was in contention for a medal and failed.
Are they always this harsh on their own runners. I mean if an American got 5th he would be the savior of the country. I know Meb got 2nd and all at the Olympics but it would have been different if he would have been American Born to most U.S. runners.
