Absolutely!! To say that certain clothing is cool because it's functional or comfortable is to contradict the notion of coolness. Coolness is about style, and if you think functionality, not style, makes it cool, you're very uncool!
Would you consider a chick who wears baggy sweats, old running shoes, no jewelry/makeup/perfume/nail polish/etc., and a crewcut hairstyle be considered cool because she was more comfortable than the hot ones you stare at? Many runners are the male equivalent of this, and the responses here prove it.
