Hey guys, I'm look for some insight. I post a lot on a tri site (yes...yes....ok....stop pointing and laughing...i know...i know). Anyway, after having done tris for a couple of years, I've noticed that they have a whole different concept of "cool" than runners do. Its almost like comparing a bunch of hippies (runners) to prepies (tri geeks).
Here was some stuff I had off the top of my head:
- No matter what you wear or say, the faster you are the cooler you are. Period.
- The slower you are, the longer your shorts should be. Basketball shorts look rediculous at jogging at 6:00 pace, but running shorts look equally rediculous at 12:00 pace.
- Don't wear sunglasses unless you plan to win. Doing 800 meter repeats in 3:00 wearing sunglasses is NOT cool.
- MP3 players while working out - not cool
- Fuel belts and camel backs - not cool
- sweat shirts - not cool
- Running pants - cool
- Tights (and you're a guy) - not cool
- Tights (and you're a girl)....depends on the ass.
- Skinny and tone - cool
- Muscle bound (like you spend too much time in the gym and not enough at the track) - not cool
......and of course, starting a thread like this....not cool?
Any others? Anyone disagree with any of these?
