After fiddling around with trainers the past 4 years, I've developed two injuries

Senior year track ( current ): Calf strain that occured febraury 2nd and I still can not run on it. The doctor said I should be able to run by april 1st.
I don't want to train in trainers anymore, I am already a forefoot striker and I always wanted to train in flats but never could because of constant competition. In April when I come back I want to train in flats, how should I start out doing it.
