Over the last year I've had a handful of times where I seemed to have an extra dose of speed that kinda comes out of no where and then goes back there again. A common thread I am now connecting to these speed surges is I seemed to get a couple day heat wave come through that I would train in - train quite hard actually - then the temperatures would return to normal and then I would run same run I did a couple weeks prior to the heat wave and I'd be a good 15-20 seconds/mile faster for the same heartrate.
Does this make sense - happen to anyone else - can this be used to be faster on race day - maybe run a few days in a full coat before the big race or something.
