I have been hearing a lot of speculation about if the big 3 truck makers are going to put "mini" diesels in their 1/2 ton models and after some searching i found out that they are going to after all for the 2010 model year. I'm pretty stoked. I would totally buy one. I wonder how much more they are going to cost to buy the diesel option over the gas option? I heard $4000 from some message boards. It costs $1700 to upgrade to the 6.0L gas option for GM and around the same price for the upgrade from 4.7L to HEMI 5.7 for dodge. I would probably go with the GM model because i love the sierra but dodge is sweet because of all the damn power that they put out but, their fuel economy is usually not too good. I would buy a F-250 but i don't really need that big of a truck unless i tow a lot, which i don't think i will ever need unless i buy a big boat; but on a teahers salary that would be pretty hard. Its reported that with these new diesel engines (ford and chevy) one could get up to 30 mpg after the engine has been broken in so they say. If anyone knows more feel free to comment.
