Decipher those other numbers for us. Did he run a 1:32 half and a 2:53 marathon? That would mean he supposedly ran the second half in 1:21.
Hmmm. This guy's weight isn't the concern here. . . .
That's a cheat assuming that the splits are accurate for distance. He ran the 6.9 miles from the halfway mark to the 20-mile mark in 38:04, or about 5:30/mile, before slowing down again to run the last 6.2 miles at 6:55/mile.
He split a sub-35 10k in the middle of this race. Can a guy that big run sub-35?
First half marathon pace: 7:02. Second half marathon pace: 6:11.
Ding, ding, ding. We have ourselves a cheater.
no way, that negative is totally possible with compression shorts. and worth at least a little more time is the aerodynamic position of his hands during the sprint to the line!!
Here's what we know about his pace:
Miles 1-13.1: 7:02
Miles 13.1-20: 5:30
Miles 20-26.2: 6:55
This guy should right a book . . . . . . . with Rosie Ruiz.

I can one-up you for a cheater.
this is from the 2007 Las Vegas Marathon.
This guy placed 30th.30 6460 GUILLERMO GONZALEZ 2 43/M Gun time03:04:37 Chip time 02:45:38 10k split 0:38:30 -- 30k split; 1:57:59
The 1/2 marathon split is missing. Last week it was there at 1:45. when I emailed the race that it was impossible , no responcse, just erased the 1/2 marathon split. Must be a buddy of the director.
If you look at EVERY other runner's splits, their gun time and chip time are within 1 minute of each other. This guy is right at 15 minutes!! Hist chip time is 15 minutes faster??? Quite a pace pick-up somewhere wouldn't you think??
ok, here's the biggest guy to do it legitimately, then...

Good thing I finished ahead of that "runner". If I had finished behind a guy dressed like that, my kids would have disowned me.

I bet if you keep looking you may actually find a few more people around the country that wear that shoe, who would have thunk it?
porn star moustache and a mullet in training too!
I'm bigger than any of those guys (ran a 2:39 at 178 lbs - only 5'7).
I ran boston in 2:50 at 165 and i'm 5'9.... you got me beat.
Pretty even splits and no easy way to short the course in Portland.
