I usually train for the 5k and the 10k. I do about 100 miles a week during the peak of my base phase. What is an appropriate amount of mileage to be doing if I were to be trying out the steeple for the first time this season? I've been doing rather high mileage for about 4 years now (since high school), and I just was wondering if the extra load has a weird affect on the ability to jump barriers and stuff.
Also, is there anything I should be doing in the winter (right now) that could help me in the spring when I run the steeple? Like drills? Plyos? Stretching? Anything at all.
