No matter how well I train, or how good of shape I am in, I always have problems fully digesting food that I eat directly before a run. This isn't so much a problem for runs or races under, say, a half marathon distance, but with the longer runs, and particularly during a marathon, isn't it important to eat... or at least consume gel packs, or gatorade, or something with electrolytes? I always get a side stitch... sucks. Any thoughts/advice? Is there any way to "train" my body into not freaking out so much when I eat right before or during a run?
