Woah, now, I'm no fan of USM, but you've got to give props where props are due-- the Wheelers are good (I think curtis has run around 14:50/ 4:15) and Hopkins is a pretty good miler. I imagine he'll run that, as he's entered in both.
If all three run the 5k, I wouldn't be surprised to see them all under 15, and Curtis under 14:40. It's not like these guys are way off.
More importantly, what we're dealing with here is referred to in politics and economics as a collective action problem. Each coach is making a rational decision by assuming that to get his runner in the correct heat, he needs to lie a little bit. If one person does this, everyone will, and it's absurd to think that getting angsty about it will change anyone's behavior. If BU had a problem with seed time exaggeration, they'd go to a proof of performance system and that'd be the end of it. Unless any of you have a moral objection to lying about seeds, I'd suggest dropping the issue. It doesn't matter.
