The other day in my English class we read Kubla Khan by Coleridge. I then played them Rush singing Xanadu from the Rush 30 DVD. It is a 1977 promo clip of the song, which is based on the poem. I had several students who thought Geddy Lee was a girl -- high voice, hair almost to the hips, and he was wearing this smock type thing.
Another vote for Paz Lenchantin, played bass for A Perfect Circle, The Smashing Pumpkins, has a new band called Entrance. She is a classically trained viola player and can play the bass really well. And she's gorgeous! (Argentinean background) Billy Corgan seems to have a thing for hot bass players, but Paz is way hotter than Darcy or whoever the new one is.

New bassist for the Pumpkins is mad hot. I love her attitude on the stage.

Carol Kaye
"The Fender bass player Carol Kaye.....could do anything and leave the men in the dust." - Quincy Jones in his book "Q - The Autobiography of Quincy Jones" 2001
"Carol taught me more about the bass than is decent."
- Sting
Carol has been there for forever, and really is the first great female bassist. She is probably old enough to be Tal Wilkenfeld's grandmother. :-)
Not sure why everyone feels Kim Deal is such a great bass player. I think she is a great songwriter, and I love her work with The Pixies and with the Breeders, but in terms of technical ability, I am not sure she is equal to people like Kaye or Wilkenfeld or NdegeOcello. All the rest are being chosen for looks, not ability. Not that I mind or anything.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
