I was there watching.
First: the course was changed from previous years and is, I think, the one that'll be run in March.
Second: last year it was a total mudbath and VERY windy; this year it was completely still but v cold and the grass was semi-frozen so the footing was much better. Comparisons are difficult because of this & the changed course.
Regarding how the race went, I'd say the front runners didn't seem to be really going for it until half a mile to go. Bekele pulled away with ~400m left at the top of the climb up Haggis Knowe. Tadesse & the others weren't far behind tho.
On another note: the course is really rather good. 2/3rds are on a relatively flat field with a few steep banks. Then through the edge of the loch, up a v steep rise & then down a fairly steep & winding path back to the flat field. Cannae wait!
