You many not need 60 for distances, but 15 would be nice for to get runners over the barrier. 60fps would be great for going over the bar, or throwing the hammer/discus/shot.
Also cropping your pics would take out the foreground and background and make your pics not look like amateur vacation snapshots. If you kneel down it will give a better prespective. Also a zoom lens would help.
The great thing about this camera, its that more track, field, running fans will take more pictures and promote our sport. The cost is high but not like the pro bodies which sell for $5000 without a lens or a storage chip. You can get pro results for $1000 now since it comes with a lens. There's no excuse anymore for volunteers with good incomes to not to shoot and post pictures of meets. Prior to this camers, you had to be a wealthy internet entrepreneur or work for A.P. to be able to get pro pictures. Now you can do it for far less money.
