the baby boom from the last war the u.s. won (wwII) has long been over thus many schools are in dire need bodies to fill freshman slots. immigrants make up a large percentage of the california community college system, the largest post-secondary education system in the world. 4 year schools like cal state univ, or/orst/wa/wast, unr, unlv, az/azst, utah need bodies. plus non coastal schools have needs like penn state, ohio state, wyoming, nebraska, oklahoma, rutgers, lsu, etc. it ain't like it used to be.
Actually, because the echo of the baby boom has reached college age, competition is very tough right now.

they're good public schools...
I didn't say all public schools were easy to get into. I'm simply suggesting that the purpose of the public schools, in general, is to provide afforable education to as many of its in-state citizens as reasonable. Therefore, any talk of "what schools are easy to get into" is a fallacy when it comes to most public institutions, because they're supposed to be easier to get into than private schools. This also doesn't mean they fail to produce highly intellgient aod successful graduates. Rather, they produce and serve a far greater spectrum of intellects and abilities. The same school might offer degrees in molecular biology and golf course management.
CLEMSON???
No way. Ranked the number 27 school in the country. I promise you it is not easy to get in there. They lose a lot of kids because they cant get them in. Ask around

Then why are they the college to have more NCAA violations than any other college for student-athletes that were not eligible?
I know nothing about this school, but when I was in college in Wisconsin, there were a couple sayings that made me laugh about UW-Stout.
Stout, Stout, the easy way out.
When in doubt, go to Stout.
Also, I always thought UNLV let everyone in, literally. Is that the case?

If you're a resident of Nevada, probably.
the priority is in keeping university jobs and not on the quality of education. there's a huge excess of freshman slots. it's easier than ever to get into college, and even easier to graduate. the schools are dumbing down degrees to increase graduation rates.

UT Austin has some of the biggest dopes in Texas. Alls you need is to finish high in any state high school to get in. They can't turn anyone away by law.
False! That is not true.
Friend with a 1450 on the (old) SAT was rejected at UT. He was turned away because they have to take anyone in the top 10% of accredited Texas high schools. He wasn't in the top 10%. Top 10% doesn't guaranty admission to school of choice either -- it just guarantees admission to a university.

The whole idea of public education, is that it's accessable to a large number of people. Therefore, any state school would be, and should be, fairly easy to get into. Additionally, the at largest public schools we're talking about 40,000 some people. You're going to find a whole spectrum of people. From brilliant kids to dumb rednecks that you wonder how they got there.
Public schools provide a service. They're not built on reputation, though some have created reputations for themselves.
Now, private schools are another matter.
Yeah, tell that to UVA

I live in CT. I know that Quinnipiac USED to be easy. Not anymore. Not since they recieved endowment funds from Ed MacMahon (his daughter went there), Starter athletic appearal, and Lenders Bagels (local businesses and alumni)and have spent millions on millions in new buildings, fantastic sports arena, pratice facilities, new business school, and a huge medical/science school. Also, they have become a national ranking school in Physical Therapy and aquired Bridgeport U's Law School. which is always on court T.V. It also doesn't hurt that they are always heard on the NYC area radios and national televisions "Quinnipiac Polls" for political races.
Marist and Iona, I do not know about.
Well I just said that b/c someone mentioned Sacred Heart and usually when people look at QU or Marist they look at SHU as well.
marist's acceptance rate is 49%...
