Here's the story. When I was 19, I got booted from college because I got bad grades. I got bad grades because I never went to class and drank too much. For the next 4 years, I continued to drink myself into oblivion every day and worked a series of crappy jobs to stay afloat. I also ruined my credit. I had a car repossessed, had a couple credit cards go to collections, wrote some bad checks, etc. I cleaned up my act about 5 years ago, went back to school, started running again, etc., and I'm about to graduate with a master's degree in something I really enjoy. Nevertheless, my credit is still terrible - my current score as reported by Experian is 575. I'm worried that at some point in the near future (next 2-3 years) I'll be purchasing a home, starting a family, etc., and may need to take out a loan or have some line of credit available. Is there any reliable way to repair your credit in a year or two? I'm not saying I want a perfect score or anything, just something that'll move me from a high-risk to a moderate-risk applicant. Additionally, do employers typically look at something like credit score during the hiring process? And has anyone done any running on wet/snowy trails in any of Inov-8's shoes? I've been thinking about picking up a pair of the Mudroc's. Thanks.
