Averaging 140+ per week is indeed pretty studly.
Theoretically.
She'll need at least one oil change :=)
and she'll need to make the team.

She can get that in Paso Robles.

Yeah, definitely sounds a little presumptuous. She doesn't make the team, the only miles she'll be logging to Beijing are Frequent Flyers.
who is going to be her (three runners that is) over 26.2 miles????
anyone?
anyone?
anyone?
I'd guess that SHE is going to "be her" over 26.2 miles (and before and after), don't you?
I agree that she may be putting the cart in front of the horse. If she gets to the start line healthy, and even if she has a bad day, is there anyone in this country that can touch her?
How's Deena looking these days ? I mean, it sounds like shes running well but the last time I saw her she looked worked. She shows her age. It's amazing how long she's been able to compete at such a high level...
you are a moron...she looks fine and the fact is even on her worst days she humiliates the other female american runners in the marathon

agreed. honestly, who can run close to Deena over 26.2? and as exciting as the Mens Trials were, the Womens maybe a tad of a bust. No Jen Rhines (she keeps moving down--heck by next summer she maybe an 800 meter runner), No Katie (10K is her best bet), Blake (have not heard much from her in a LONG time), and perhaps O'Neil is the next best thing? But will she run? As much as folks complain about the Mens Trials being early, it allowed plenty of time for the 10K guys to come back. Many of the Women are a tad nervous about going 26.2 then trying to get back into tip top shape of the track trials. Would not surprise me for Deena to win both the marathon trials and the 10K at the track trials as well. She is motivated as this is her last big oly year.

These numbers are absolute bull shit and anyone that believes them is not thinking clearly.
She wrote this blog on Dec 31st. That is 230 days before her the Olympic marathon. That means that she will average 21.74 miles per day. Even if you believe that, lets carry it further. Probably about 80 miles the week prior to the trials and the another 80 prior to the games. Also no more than 70 miles in the week following the trials as she will need some recovery prior to attacking the Games. That leaves 209 days to achieve 4770 miles. Which means that she will be averaging 22.82 miles per day or 160 mpw. PEOPLE ARE STUPID TO EVEN READ HER B.S.

Thanks.
More interesting to me than the mileage is the staying healthy stuff:
"I will take 200 ice baths. I will log 600 hours of afternoon naps. I will get more than 200 massages and have a total of about 1000 acupuncture needles. All this in an effort to maintain health and get as strong as possible.
An ice bath, massage, and 3 hour nap every day. Plus all that acupuncture. Wow. I guess that's what it takes at her level, more power to her.
