I am teaching a college Introduction to Physical Education (or kinesiology/exercise science) class for the first time and am trying to come up with some good assignments and in-class activities for the students. The class is a full semester lecture and covers a bit of everything, like history of physical activity and the Olympic movement, sports ethics, the media, philosophy/sociology of physical activity/pe/sports, and careers related to physical activity. The class is for freshman students majoring in health/phys ed.
Does anybody know of any good assignments or class activities? I came up with one where students need to describe what their career choice is, what they need to do to get there (professional certifications, continuing ed, etc.). I would like somethings that are interesting, and also things that can't easily be plagarized (copied from wikipedia, etc.). Any help? I really want to provide the students a good experience and make it interesting and relevant.
