So I ran a marathon back in mid-October. I probably didn't take as much down-time as I should have afterwards, and started paying the price a few weeks later. I wound up seeing a chiropractor for some lower back problems, and had some massage work done on the hamstrings and quads to loosen things up a bit. However, for the last month or so, I've been plagued with a really tight left hamstring. I've been doing some light stretching, mostly half-assed stuff, after my runs, but it hasn't helped much. Now, I'm fairly certain I have some kind of tear or strain in my lower hamstring tendons, right where they attach to the inner knee. I can feel it sort of popping or snapping when I walk, and it makes my knee feel weak when I run. I took about a week and a half off, and it was feeling as good as new. However, I've been back to running again for like 4 days, and it hurts like hell again when I run and walk. If anyone has any experience with a similar injury, I would appreciate some input. I know the right answer is probably time off with a lot of flexibility work to loosen things up, but it's hard for me to do. Anyway, thanks.
