Is it bad to have a high maximum heart rate? I bought a Forerunner 305, and for a 18 year old it should be near 200 not 250. I have tried several retests and I guess i just have a high max. Is this bad? Any good runner have a high rate too?

wrong
Maybe not...Mine is not as high, but it's high.
My resting heart rate is in the high 60's. Not very good.
However, I got it tested once. They got about 230. Thought it was wrong. Retested. Once again 230. I wasn't too sure. Maybe the University Grad students were using the wrong protocols. I ended up getting it done somewhere else. Once again, about 230.
the FIRST book cites a high school runner with a mhr of 240 if its any consolation.
My max HR is about 215 and I'm 27. Formulas are inaccurate for most people.
heart rate ranges are based on the average (sedentary) population.....the max isn't going to be correct for an athlete.
What about an 18 year old who has a resting rate of 58-62, and a max of 190-200. Is that below average?

I would say you are very typical, nothing to worry about.
the op is around 250 ? That's very high, but probably a good thing. The guy who just got around 7th in the olympic trials marathon (what is his name Nate.....Jensen or something?) I remember stating that he had a max around 250. I was surprised, but I guess some people do have max hr's around 240-250. And it certianly hasn't hurt that Nate guy.
