I liked the dog a lot and was pretty sad when it died. The part when he searches that old building for his dog was pretty scary. Most of the reviews I've read bash it for not following the book. Will Smith gives another good performance though.

Awesome Movie! Go see it.
I had the opposite feeling: very slow, ambiguous start with an action-packed, scary at times (yes I jumped several times!!), sad ending. It got a standing applause at the end from the crowd (as though Will Smith et. al could hear it).
Great Movie and absolutely nasty, bald, creepy, cock strong monsters who would not stop until Will Smith was dead. Damn they were persistent! Anyhow...go see it.
If you found a link explaining that it was a joke, why don't you copy and paste rather than expect us to believe whatever you say?

I saw the Batman-Superman logo too. I was really excited because there had been talk on the internet about this movie for a few years. Unfortunatly after googling \"Batman Superman I am Legend\" I came across an article which explained that it was nothing more then a joke inserted by a writer who was at one time hired to draft a script of the batman superman movie (I think the idea fell through). Anyway to conclude this incredibly nerdy post, no batman superman duo, but the dark knight looks awesome.
I liked it. Loved the Mustang Smith was driving the first part of the movie.
I guess I didn't hear everything about the movie beforehand, I thought it was going to be a little more like "Cast Away" and I didn't really know there were going to be zombies involved. I was thinking more of rogue gangs of people. During the movie I thought he was going to cure a zombie and fall in love with the woman-zombie so I was glad to see that didn't happen.

also, the focus on the lead zombie led me to believe that they would allow some character development/history there...nope. also led me on to believe that neville and the lead zombie might have some sort of developing relationship...nope.
yeah...I felt like it really had alot of unfulfilled potential for character development with the zombie characters
it was way better than i thought it would be, but nowhere near as good as it could have been
Agree, the first half was good and full of potential, second half disappoints.
Pretty much EXACTLY like 28 days later. Although I enjoyed 28 days later much more.
Seeing heath ledger as the joker in the previews was definitely worth the $5 (matinee)!!!!
everyone said it was real real bad -- one to rent maybe?
Anyone see La vie en Rose?
Go see NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

Is that who it is? I was trying to figure it out and I thought it was Jeremy Piven...
I like how they make the Joker look alot more f*cked up and sadistic, rather than a clown.

Agreed, kinda reminds me of the old Caesar Romera version of the Joker.
A few posts on this thread have hit the nail right on the head:
- I Am Legend: Absolutely terrible, god-awful movie!
- 28 days later is a much better pick if you're ever in the situation to chose between the two
- However, I wasn't upset I spent $9 to see it as Heath Ledger looks incredibly badass as The Joker in the upcoming Dark Knight flick.
My thoughts: the movie sucked mostly due to the CGI. I felt like I was watching Big Willy style battle cartoon characters for 2 hours. Also, the whole Shrek thing made me hate the movie even more. The scene was too drawn out... I didn't pay to watch the movie Shrek again.
FINALLY: The (far from scary, terrifying, badass, etc) creatures weren't zombies. Their hearts were beating, their brains were functioning, and I don't believe they craved brains to ease the pain of being dead. All of these are definitive zombie traits.
I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was at least worth the 8 bucks I paid for it.
I did like 28 days better though mainly because it had a more real quality to it.
The bad part about I am Legend was the fake looking monsters. They did not have much of a scare factor to them at all.
All in all pretty good movie.
Was it me, or did they put a clip in the trailer that wasn't in the movie? The trailer showed some scene where he's in the middle of them, and ones like trying to scare him by screaming in his ear. This led me to believe that Will Smith was going to like go to their "lair" or whatever, and figure something out, so when the movie ended I seriously thought there was another hour left.

not the craving brains part. only a small proportion of zombie movies/stories incorporate that. they like eating all parts of people.
"Night of the Living Dead" meets "Cast Away"

yes, thank you! i could have sworn that i saw the same clip and was expecting the zombies to kidnap him instead of him pulling out a grenade.
maybe they ran out of money and had to cut the film short?

This is what I think happened. No movie is that drawn out only to end that quickly unless deadlines were rushed or money ran out.
i thought it succed!!! (sorry i cant put a c next to a k)
it was very poorly/cheaply made. all the good parts were in the commercials.
will smith made far too much money off of this film.
I liked it. It was realistic and he had to die or else the movie would be called I am "hero". Sounds like everyones pissed that it didn't follow the mold of all the recent block busters. Its a flawed character that does the best he can to help the situation...thats all. There maybe to much grief for the average movie goer but I found it refreshing that something could be so honest and still a movie.
Will Smith carries the movie on his shoulders with his best performance of his career. If you like mushy, heart felt, feel good, stories definitely skip it. If you want something different and aren't afraid to have your heart broken 10 times check it out.
Will Smiths final scene was worth the entire movie.
