So I am in college and I want to walk on a pretty good NCAA team. I have been training pretty good but here is my question. I can either try out for outdoors in a couple months like march or april or I could just run mileage for the next 9 months until xc and tryout then. Meaning build up for the next 3 to 4 months untill I reach a solid amount of mileage, like 100 give or take some. Then just stick at 100 for the next 5 or so months. I'm just thinking about doing mostly distance work with some tempos so I don't get stale. I would probably run some track races with only strides under my belt and an a**load of distance work. What do you guys think? Would this really help me improve come xc season or would I better improve if I went out for track and did the workouts. Btw I am 21, have been doing about 65-70 past month or two.
