i am addicted to coffee. got started in college. i found i really enjoyed having a cup of coffee before indoor track races.
once i got a job - i'm a teacher - i started drinking coffee every day. a cup in the morning at home every day, then it was another at work once i got there, and the guys i coach with brew a pot in the coaches' office before xc/track practice. so over the course of a workday i probably drink 3-4 cups. on the weekends it's a cup or two in the morning, that's it.
during the week, it's necessity - i probably sleep 6 hours on an average night, so as the work week goes on i need it more and more. on the weekends it's more of a ritual that i enjoy. this morning was the first snowy morning of the winter - for some reason, it just tastes better when it's cold and snowy outside. kinda like kids and hot chocolate.
i think i have too much, but i haven't experienced any health issues as a result - my lifestyle of fatigue is unhealthy, but i doubt the coffee is. i have had stretches during which i've successfully cut back, and have had headaches from that. i've been checked out by a cardiologist (not for the coffee, for other stuff) and i'm prefectly healthy, and i've been a hard coffee drinker for 6 years. of all the bad habits to have, drinking coffee is hardly one of them.
